Phil & Suz Snowdonia Challenge

1,085 Metres for Every Heartbeat: The Yr Wyddfa Summit Challenge

On the 1st of July 2026, Phil Griffin, Heart Care’s Chair of Trustees, will swap the boardroom for the mountain trails, joining Suzanne Ursell and a team of passionate volunteers on an inspiring journey to the summit of Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon), the highest point in Wales. Standing 1,085 metres above sea level, the team aims not only to take in the spectacular views but to raise crucial funds for the people of Walsall who fight daily battles with heart health.

The Mission

The challenge begins at 9am as Suz & Phil set off on their trek up Yr Wyddfa, hoping to reach the summit by lunchtime before returning to the car park in the afternoon. It’s a journey that represents much more than physical endurance; it symbolises hope, resilience, and dedication to improving lives affected by heart disease, lung disease, cancer, and other serious conditions.

Why Walsall Heart Care Needs You

Walsall Heart Care has been a beacon of hope in the community for years, providing specialised rehabilitation for those recovering from:

  • Heart attacks
  • Major cardiac surgery
  • Serious heart conditions
  • Lung disease
  • Cancer

As an independent charity, we depend on fundraising to continue offering life-saving services and maintaining modern equipment. Your support can help us continue to be a vital lifeline for the Walsall community.

The Goal

Our target is £10,000, which will go toward acquiring two essential pieces of medical equipment:

  • A New ECG (Electrocardiograph) Machine: This machine diagnoses irregularities and heart conditions like arrhythmias efficiently, providing essential data for patient health.
  • A Professional Upright Exercise Bike: Designed for our rehab gym, this bike allows patients to build cardiovascular strength in a controlled, safe environment.

With every step up Yr Wyddfa, we aim to take a step closer to better heart health for the people of Walsall.

How You Can Help

Your support makes a world of difference. Here’s how:

  • Donate: Whether you give £5, £50, or more, every penny helps us reach our £10,000 target by our Just Giving page https://www.justgiving.com/page/snowdonia-heart-care-26?utm_medium=FR&utm_source=CL.
  • Share: Spread the word by sharing our link across social media platforms
  • Encourage: Follow our journey on our official website (www.heartcare.org.uk) or Facebook page (Heart Care Walsall) and cheer us on!

Together, we can make this appeal the start of something incredible for the heart health of our community. By donating, you’re not only hitting a fundraising target but investing in a brighter, healthier future for Walsall.

Thank you for your generosity and support. From the bottom of our hearts, let’s climb this mountain of hope together!
