New vaccine RSV immunisation Posted or Updated on 16 Jul 2024

Pregnant women and patients aged between 75-79 are eligible for a new vaccine a RSV immunisation (Respiratory Syncytial Virus). RSV is a common respiratory virus that affects babies under the age of one and older adults with increased risk of hospitalisation during the winter months. This new vaccine is in addition to the flu vaccine. The flu vaccine programme will be starting in October and we will contact you to book nearer the time. We will be contacting patients to book heir RSV vaccine based on age. Please wait to be contacted by the surgery to book your appointment. We cannot vaccinate everyone at once and the programme is running until August 2025. This vaccine cannot be given at the same time as the flu or covid.
